Homework is an essential part of learning. I spend 5-6 hours a day with your child but I cannot offer everything in the classroom they need to succeed. Some work must be done at home to support and cement their day of learning. During each day students learn a lot of new information. Homework is an extension of what they have learned that day.

Students are given a homework most days. I do not generally give homework on Friday's. Students need to have their student planners with them every night except Friday. Please make sure that your child is using their planners consistently. After January they will be working on their own with their planners. Currently we are supporting them daily on how to use their planners.

Thirty minutes of reading is part of each nights homework. There should be no evening your child does not read for thirty minutes or more. If your home does not have enough books the students are welcome to check out books from the classroom. Please have them read out loud to you 2-3 times a week so they can practice their oral reading skills.
